A British study shows that the average European man wears his pajamas for two weeks before washing them. For women, this average is even 17 days. The averages across European countries are quite similar.

British hygiene expert Sally Bloomfield states that this is very unhygienic. It can lead to skin infections, bladder infections, and even staph infections. This is due to skin cells that contain microorganisms. These are generally harmless, but can be harmful if they end up in the wrong part of the body.

It is recommended to wash pajamas every week to largely eliminate the microbes.
