BODEGRAVEN – Ironing is not exactly known as the most exciting household chore. Most people prefer to postpone the task as long as possible. A study on ironing habits among Dutch people shows that one in five men iron their shirts naked or half-naked. Among men under 24, this is even one in three.
Men iron only what they currently need in 33 percent of cases. They also prefer to leave the task to their (female) partner. Especially older men tend to do this. Women handle the work themselves in 95 percent of cases.
By the way, one in five women chooses wrinkle-free fabrics when buying clothes, according to a study among over five hundred people conducted by Philips and Robijn for the Perfective, a new iron they are developing together.
